At the beginning of the week, the faithful gathered at the church in Litér for a special Mass celebrated by Father Norbert Laposa on the evening of October 22. After the Mass, the faithful embarked on a pilgrimage to Magdolna Bódi’s grave, where they united in prayer and love to remember Magdi, who set an example for the community with her life and faith.
All-Night Prayer Vigil Preceding the Planned Exhumation of Magdi’s Remains
An all-night prayer vigil was held ahead of the planned exhumation of Magdi’s earthly remains the following day. The vigil offered an opportunity for those present to give thanks for Magdi’s life through prayer and reflection beside her grave in the cemetery’s quiet. They prayed for God’s blessing upon local communities, the diocese, and the youth of the nation. In the silence of the night, the faithful commemorated a young woman who gave genuine witness to Jesus’s love and the power of faith in her everyday life.
Canonical Examination of the Venerable Servant of God, Mária Magdolna Bódi’s Remains
As part of the beatification process, following authorization from civil authorities and the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, the canonical examination of Mária Magdolna Bódi’s earthly remains began on October 25 in the cemetery at Litér. After identifying the resting place of the remains, participants and guests took an oath within a liturgical framework in the church of Litér, committing to examine them with the highest level of professional care.
Specialists were commissioned to extract the remains, and an anthropological examination was conducted according to protocol. After a meticulous, comprehensive, and thorough investigation, the remains were placed in a secure location. The necessary examinations will continue for the preparation of future relics. Until the beatification, the remains do not yet receive the veneration reserved for the relics of the blessed and the saints.
