Preparations for the beatification ceremony begin

On the day of the vow of chastity of Mary Magdalene Bódi, 26 October, Archbishop Michael Wallace Banach, Archbishop Emeritus of Memphis and Apostolic Nuncio of Hungary, will celebrate Holy Mass in the St. Michael Cathedral in Veszprém.

Magdi loved the children very much and the children loved her very much. She had great respect for the institution of the family and knew that God’s holy plan is fulfilled in Christian marriage. She was also aware of the role and dignity of motherhood. But at her first spiritual exercise in 1941 in St. Ignatius in Pécs, she realised that God was calling her to a different path. Two things seized her soul. On the one hand, to be a saint: to radiate the love of Christ to her fellow human beings, and on the other, to live a secular, apostolic life.

It was after this spiritual exercise that he decided to take a private vow of chastity. He would have liked to enter the monastery, but his parents’ irregular marriage did not allow it. Another major difficulty for her was her mother’s illness, which prevented her from leaving the family home, and she was the only daughter who could manage the household and care for her mother.

On the feast of Christ the King, on 26 October 1941, she took her private vows of chastity before the altar of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Balatonfűzfő. By this time he was over twenty years old, so he was aware that he had made a valid and irrevocable private vow and had made a conscious decision to be betrothed to Christ.

On October 26, 2024, let us start together the preparation for the beatification on the day of the vow of chastity of Mary Magdalene Bódi. Knowing and loving Her!
